Library of Government Polytechnic, Ahmedabad strives to provide quality services, promote reading and encourage lifelong learning using accessible resources. Library is the hub for the information services in the institute. It serves as creative and innovative ideas in supporting the teaching and learning activities of the institute. With the fast growing collection in print forms the library is contributing to the Institute’s vision of becoming a premier Institute.
Library Membership
All students and faculty members of Government Polytechnic Engineering College are to be
registered as Member of library. Book borrowing rights are given to all Students (UG)
and
faculty members.
Location of Library
Library is located in Main Building with total 826 square meters with reading capacity of
120
students and includes Librarian cabin, news paper reading area,
book issue and return area, reference section, magazine section
Library Opening hours (Issue & Return of books)
Monday to Friday and working saturday timings : 10:30 AM to 6.10 PM Sunday and public
holiday remain clossed.
Services
- Library is providing the facility of borrowing of reading materials like books, IS
code
to the students and faculties.
- Library is issuing library tickets to faculty and students for borrowing of the
books.
Library has newspaper and magazine reading area.
- Library has two separate reading rooms for boys and girls. Library has also facility
of
Namo wifi, so students can easily access it in the library area for the study
purpose.
- Students and faculties can use library facilities during office hours and planning
to
extend it.
Library Automation
- Library department recently gone through Library Automation project and now can
provide
better services to students.
- Library department of Government Polytechnic recently prepared the books database in
soft copy and installed E-Granthalaya Library software.
- Issue-return of books through E-Granthalaya software.
- Library also started Bar-coding of the books.

Collections
- Library has very good collection. This collection includes, books, magazines and IS
codes. Currently, Library has 35,736 books and subscribes 13 magazine/Journals.
- Collection encompasses subjects of Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics and
communication, Instrumentation and communication, Computer, Information Technology,
Plastic and Automobile Engineering and related areas.
